Where to Donate in the Detroit Area

As summer is coming to an end, all of the college students start moving out, and there is always a surplus of things that are getting thrown away. When you are going to clean out your apartment and throw all of those goods away, whether it be clothing, food, furniture, etc., take some time to think of where you could drop it off instead. The things you no longer have a need for could greatly help other students or even families in the area that are struggling. Some ideas of places to drop things off at are:

  • St. Vincent de Paul Society
    • St. Vincent de Paul Society is a religious building, but is very well known for helping people who are struggling. They accept donations to help those in need. They are located at  3000 Gratiot Ave, Detroit, MI 48207.
  • Salvation Army
    • The Salvation Army is a nonprofit organization run to help those in need. When donating here, it is important to understand that your good will be sold to people. They will be sold very cheap and affordable, and a large group of people go here to find things, but they are sold. The Salvation Army can be found at 7640 Michigan Ave, Detroit, MI 48210.
  • Habitat for Humanity
    • Habitat for Humanity is a large nonprofit organization that is all about helping those in need. This is a good place to take old furniture, etc. They are located at 14325 Jane Ave, Detroit, MI 48205.
  • St. Bonaventure Monastery
    • St. Bonaventure Monastery is located at 1740 Mt Elliott St, Detroit, MI 48207. This is a religious building, but accepts donations for those who are in need.
