When it comes to taking your hard earned money and just giving it away, it is not always an easy decision. Sure, giving to a charity sounds like a good deed to do… but then again, you worked really hard to just give that money away. So why should you take your hard earned money and just give it away to someone or something else? There are plenty of reasons donating to a charity is worth it, but here are the HIGH Program’s top 5 reasons to donate to a charity.

 1. Even small donations have an impact 

 Donating can seem pointless when you do not have a lot to give. BUT, this should not detour you from donating. Every little amount will help that charity or nonprofit organization you chose to donate to. Sure, they may talk about big donations, but even 5 dollars can help someone who is in need of a little extra help at the moment. So remember, even if you can only give 5 dollars to that local charity you see, it is worth it! And very appreciated. 

 2. Helping others, helps you 

Helping others, can actually help you! Giving money to a charity or nonprofit organization that is fighting for a cause you believe in, will spark all kinds of good feelings inside of you. Helping people is a heartwarming sensation that cannot always be achieved that easily. BUT, with helping others, you will help yourself feel good mentally!

Giving to a charity or nonprofit of your choosing, is a great opportunity to give back. You could donate towards a program that once helped you, or just something that will help your community. Being able to help your community is a one of a kind feeling that cannot be replaced.

If you have ever thought about how to become a leader, this is your chance. Donating towards a cause is an easy way to become a leader, and enhance your leadership skills. Once you donate, people will see this, and donate too. Essentially, you are setting an example for the rest of your community around you to donate as well. Once this happens, a snowball effect will be in place… and bam! You are a leader! 

5. Donations are tax deductible

 If all of the other reasons do not sound good enough to want to donate, any donations you give are tax deductible! Just ask for and keep your receipt from any donations, and you are able to write them off come tax time! This is a huge perk for a lot of people, and an awesome perk for donating.
