During this week students, faculty and administration along with the local community are challenged to raise donations and awareness of hunger and homelessness in Detroit. On Monday, Nov.17 at Wayne State University Campus in Gullen Mall, the National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week will begin. For the entire week the HIGH Program will have special events to bring awareness to hunger and homelessness. Wayne State University's First Lady, Jacqueline Wilson, established the HIGH (Helping Individuals Go Higher) Program to ensure that students do not have to choose between financing basic necessities and earning a degree. The Program provides resources for students-in-need, such as housing support, textbook and other school suppliers, clothing, transportation, and child-care assistance.
