Taking to Tik Tok

TikTok is by no means a new platform, but the popularity of the app absolutely skyrocketed during the initial lockdown in March of 2020. High school teens, college students, and working professionals alike have taken to the app to share their talents, experiences, and expertise throughout the pandemic.

Working professionals on TikTok can be quite the asset, and have made TikTok into a valuable resource for its users. These professionals offer free advice for their followers and the general public, and while in some cases you should still seek assistance in person, these nuggets of information are incredibly helpful for those who can’t afford it. While some of us use TikTok purely for fun, they use it to spread information and advice.

Knowing and understanding the law can be difficult without consulting a lawyer, something that can be incredibly expensive. TikTok has quickly become the platform of choice for many lawyers, who seek to assist the general public in understanding many different aspects of the law.

Lawyer Kelly is a divorce attorney who has proved she is well-versed in family law as a whole. While it might seem odd to seek the advice of a divorce attorney if you aren’t planning to divorce, Kelly offers advice outside of the scope of divorce court. The California lawyer discusses all things family law, including custody, community property, and prenuptial agreements. Her advice is helpful to couples who are planning to get married or divorced, as well as couples that share children.

Family law isn’t the only confusing aspect of the legal world. Ryan Chenevert is the resident injury lawyer of TikTok, and is licensed to practice law in the state of Louisiana. Chenevert offers advice regarding insurance, settlements, and injury lawsuits. Even if you are not currently injured or going through a lawsuit, his account offers helpful advice in the event that you are.

Lawyers are not the only working professionals breaking down complex topics for TikTok users. Many doctors have also decided to use this platform for the greater good. Medical care, and even medical advice, in the US is astronomically expensive. Seeing a specialist is even moreso. Medical professionals have taken to TikTok to assuage some of the uncertainty surrounding medical care and information.

Dr. Nicole Baldwin is a pediatrician who seeks to dispel misinformation surrounding vaccinations and educate parents regarding medical care for their children. Recently, a good deal of her content has surrounded the COVID-19 vaccine, but her content is focused primarily on pediatrics. Dr. Baldwin also writes a blog, which goes into more depth about the topics she covers on her TikTok.

Of course, children aren’t the only members of the family that need medical care or advice. Doctor Leslie is a general practitioner who, like her peers, uses her platform to share information regarding medical care and medical professionals. While she doesn’t offer specialized care, she does offer medical tips for the whole family.

Dr. Shannon M. Clark, on the other hand, does offer specialized care. Dr. Clark is a board certified ObGyn and maternal-fetal medicine specialist, and has more than a decade of experience in her field. This doctor offers a plethora of information regarding prenatal care, childbirth, and caring for infants, especially in the early stages of life. She gives thoughtful responses to other medical professionals, and clears up several myths or misunderstandings about her field of work.

Medical doctors aren’t the only ones with beneficial information to offer on social media. Psychologists and psychiatrists alike have used TikTok in order to share their expertise regarding mental health, personal care, and relationships.

One psychologist that gives videos with particularly helpful advice is Dr. Julie Smith. This English psychologist creates videos that center greatly around depression. While her specialty is mental health, she makes videos about boundaries, relationships, and social media use in teens. Some of her videos seem really cheesy, but they provide great advice overall.

Another mental health professional on TikTok is Nadia Addesi. Addesi is a psychotherapist, who has taken to the app to make funny, as well as informative videos. This young woman also discusses boundaries and relationships with her audience, as well as symptoms of anxiety and depression that aren’t heavily discussed in mainstream media.

Legal, medical, and financial advice is not where the treasure trove of working professionals on TikTok ends. The website also offers a handful of financial advisors.

If you’re looking to boost your credit score, buy a home, or invest, Humphrey Yang is your man. His account offers a good deal of information on how to better your financial status. He talks about boosting your credit score, gives advice on when and how to invest, and how to purchase property at the best rates. If you have trouble understanding any of these things, he gives easy-to-understand explanations of these concepts.

These are just a few of the accounts on TikTok that provide the general public with valuable services and information for free. As the platform has grown, more and more people have begun to provide their expertise through it. Even if you don’t actively use the app, or if you aren’t very social media savvy, TikTok has become a very valuable asset.
