Take Back The Night

We were at the Take Back the Night event last night to raise awareness and educate on sexual assault with COSW, First Step, and SAFE. We want to say thank you to all that attended and to the speakers. "Some people are hurting so bad you have to do more than preach a message to them. The W Food Drive

The W Food Pantry

The HIGH Program is hosting a food drive for the new  W Food Pantry   on  Monday, April 24 th !   The W Food Pantry will provide students in-need at Wayne State University with the food and resources needed to enhance student success. To donate nonperishable food items, please email   wsuhighprogram@wayne.edu   to coordinate a drop-off time. Thank you for supporting our students!

Special Message from the HIGH Program- Student Success

The HIGH Program is excited to share the success of our first program graduate! Khari Dickey received assistance from the HIGH Program that helped her stay in college and graduate from Wayne State University in 2014. Now three years later, Khari is graduating from Western Michigan University with a Master of Science in Exercise and Sports Medicine. Khari remains engaged with her community and Wayne State. Khari Dickey is living proof of what can happen when you give a little support to a bright individual striving to succeed. Once Displaced By Tragedy, A Family Receives A Home

Slide over the high chair in the kitchen, and Branch was already envisioning herself and her nine children having a family dinner around the dining room table. In the expansive living area upstairs, Branch was awestruck to see a bedroom large enough for her four girls to share. On the same floor, there was room for the kids to do their homework after school, and, just around the counter, a room dedicated for prayer and reflection. She couldn’t believe it. “Thank you, Lord — oh, my goodness!” Branch said. In March 2015, a fire destroyed Branch’s home. Now here it was, 21 months later, and Branch was near tears explaining how she felt her life was “beginning again” — thanks to the keys to the house she received Wednesday through S.A.Y.
